Hi everyone,
vladeking here. I’m running a personal WordPress site and I’m starting to explore monetization through advertisements. I’ve been reading a lot, but I’d love to hear some real-world experiences from this community.
I’m trying to figure out the best approach to integrate ads without ruining the user experience or slowing down my site too much. Right now I see two main paths:
1. Using ad management plugins (like Advanced Ads, Ad Inserter, WP Quads)
Pros: full control over placement, easy to inject ad codes anywhere, good for A/B testing, and you can switch networks without touching the theme.
Cons: can add extra load, sometimes conflicts with caching, and you still need to manually manage all the ad codes.
2. Direct integration via external platforms (AdSense, Mediavine, Ezoic, etc.)
Pros: often optimized automatically (especially Mediavine/Ezoic), better for high traffic, dedicated support, and advanced features like header bidding.
Cons: less granular control, higher entry requirements for premium networks, and you may need to change DNS or install their plugin anyway.
I’m curious:
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share! 😊

I’m curious:
- Which method do you prefer and why?
- How do you balance ad revenue with site speed and user experience?
- Have you had any bad experiences with specific plugins or networks?
- Is there a hybrid approach you’d recommend? (e.g., manual AdSense injection via a lightweight plugin)
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share! 😊
